THE CARNIVAL OF CINEMA: EPISODE XXXVII – O’ BLOGGER WHERE ART THOU?

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Carnival of Cinema. Each week you can look here for the best in cinema related posts from around the world.

Let’s get right to the goodies.

Kicking things off this week is Jack Yoest of REASONED AUDACITY. Jack and his family were invited to a private pre-screening of the William Wilberforce biopic Amazing Grace last February. Jack tells us about the film and speaks to the film’s relevance today. Following today's feature, please stay tuned to see Jack politely smack down a troll. Read the post and comments for more.

There is no lack of smack

Catherine Cantieri talks smack about Superheroes on her site I AM SCREAMING AND PUNCHING MYSELF. After watching The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Catherine has a something to say about the moral fiber of these goofballs in bodysuits.

From smack to flak jackets.

CELLULOID HEROES Paul McElligott continues his military movie tribute with three more reviews of war films. This week we go back to Vietnam with We Were Soldiers, Full Metal Jacket and “The one Oliver Stone movie that mattered.” Platoon.

When I think of explosions, screaming and wanton slaughter there’s always one film that leaps to mind…

The Sound of Music.

That’s just me. Edith Yeung on the other hand thinks of the film when she’s on her morning job. She remembers the song “I Have Confidence” from the film over at her site EDITH YEUNG.COM: DREAM. THINK. ACT.

If you really want confidence try being 7' 1/4" tall, weighing in at 319lbs and have the strength to casually carry most mid sized cars on your shoulders. Alright, I don’t know about that last part but Conan Stevens may just be the world’s biggest action hero. This week Conan let’s us in on what’s going down with the filming of Som Tam Movie. Go to his site SOM TAM MOVIE for the full story on the partially completed film.

Conan, the next time you’re waiting for the key grip to get a grip on things, don’t forget to look skyward and say “Hi”.

Google Earth’s Street View will give you a street level look at the whole world. Shedwa of the webstite SHEDWA sheds some light on some film locations via Google Earth.

It’s amazing what technology can do eh?

If you think seeing the Google Earth is neat, Pixar’s got themselves a talkin’ rat.

Vaprak takes a look at Ratatouille. Pixar is the most consistently good house out there and their latest release looks good. Head over to THE CRITICAL CRITICS to see what he has cooking.

See what he has cooking…That’s horrible. I can’t believe I allowed myself to slip in a pun that lame. Surely, I can do better.

You can do better, and stop calling me Shirley.

WTTF: WELCOME TO THE FUTURE has a comic strip about quoting the film Airplane! Check out Jeremy’s work here.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End has been a reviewing boon for the Carnival. Mr. Besilly keeps the pirate parade rolling with his review of his recent release on his site MR. BESILLY’S BLOG.

From Depp to something deep.

And now we slow down to end with a serious piece of business.

Darfur. All we see on TV is Paris Hilton and Roise O’Donnell and Darfur rages on. The Devil Came on Horseback is a powerful documentary this ignored genocide. Charles Madiano of CLEAN OUR HOUSE has seen the film and gives a review along with information to help fight the killing.

…and CUT!…and PRINT!

Thanks to everyone for their submissions.
