THE CARNIVAL OF CINEMA: EPISODE XXXI – ATTACK OF THE KILLER BLOGS
| Welcome to this edition of the Carnival of Cinema. Before we jump into the posts, I want to extend my thanks for Paul McElligott of CELLULOID HEROES for taking over the hosting responsibilities last week. Paul accepted the hosting gig on short notice and did a great job. To view last week’s edition click here. ![]() Okay, maybe he gets a little wonky from time to time. Next up is the best of all time – Orson Welles. Greg McNamee has a fitting tribute to the legendary filmmaker Welles over at BRITANNICA BLOG. And since we’re on the subject of filmmakers who have made classic films… Steven Spielberg + Peter Jackson = excitement for Jim Dorey over at MARKETSAW: THE FUTURE OF FILM... The two filmmakers are teaming up to make a trilogy of Tintin movies. For another great director, let’s see what’s happening over at THE WORKS AND GENIUS OF DAVID FINCHER. The site’s operator FincherFanatic has a German version of the poster for Zodiac. From great directors to great characters… Todd Howard has a great list celebrating five of the best characters of all time from TV or movies, and talks about the actor, director, writer and even composer involved in making the character a list-topping classic. Go to ZOOM-IN ONLINE for more. One of the great superhero characters (and in my estimation the best of all time) is Spider-Man. Miracles upon miracles, we’ve got ourselves a trio of Spider-Man 3 reviews this week. Let’s see who thinks what. We begin the three with Michael Hwang’s look at Spidey’s third. Michael definitely thinks that the third time is NOT the charm. Look to REMIKZ: A COLLECTION OF ALL THINGS ENTERTAINING for his opinion. Second in line is Michelle from SCRIBBIT. Michelle believes that Peter Parker is a worthy hero and the film is a worthy effort. Finally, we move to FUEL THE REBELLION…FEEL THE BURN where Viv takes a look at Spider-Man 3. You’ll have to click on the link to see what Viv thinks. Another trio in this week’s edition is CULTURE SNOB’s three submissions. All made the cut and all are worth checking out. First, is The Misunderstood Blog-a-thon which runs from May 16th to May20th. Check it out. Next The Snob asks “Why Are There Frogs Falling from the Sky?” The third in line is a look at the uses of atrocities. Moving along, Samir Bharadwaj of SAMIRBHARADWAJ.COM has a bunch of movie tickets and knows how use em’. Click on the link to read reviews of Guru and Babel. Next, over at BUY OUTSIDE THE BOX, Ruth Mitchell reacts to the power of the man and the movie Gandhi. Alexius reviews the film Sunshine. Click over to TOPMOVIES to read a concise review of this film which has been seeing good press. To close things up for the week we have an entry that invites participation from others. Lindsey of ZEE SAYS-FILM ADDICT + TEEN LIBRARIAN wants to know "Am I alone?" Thanks to everyone for their submissions! The Carnival of Cinema is ongoing with submissions being taken through each Wednesday and posting every Friday. Have an opinion or article about the film industry? Have you reviewed a film or DVD? Thanks very much for the inclusion of my Walk the Line review. Plenty of other great stuff there, especially love the Orson Welles one.
